There is Hope

May 6, 2020 | 1:00

Multiple combat tours shattered Retired Marine Corps Captain Jason Haag. After coming home, he was drinking heavily, on more than two dozen medications and ready to end it all. Then he met Axel.

I was so self-destructive that it would have probably, in my mind, made it better if I died.

When I was at my lowest point, there was a 7-11 no less than 500 yards from my door, and I couldn’t even go get a pack of **** gum, because I was so messed up.

And then I found service dogs. My service dog, Axel, saved my life. If it was not for him and the things that he can do for me,  I’d be dead, there’s no doubt about it.

We all lost friends. We all lost brothers and sisters. But, the biggest thing that you can do is make a success out of your life and not make their sacrifice wasted.

Make the call. Reach out. Call somebody. Just reach out.
